Seeking Ruqya can be an important step for those experiencing spiritual difficulties. However, it is equally important to ensure that the practitioner you consult follows the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah.
Unfortunately, not everyone who claims to perform Ruqya adheres to Islamic teachings. For this reason, Muslims should exercise caution and seek knowledge before placing their trust in any practitioner.
A genuine Raqi should:
✅ Base their treatment upon the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah
✅ Encourage prayer, dhikr and reliance upon Allah
✅ Be honest about their abilities and limitations
✅ Maintain professionalism and confidentiality
✅ Encourage self-Ruqya and personal worship
✅ Encourage medical treatment where appropriate
✅ Avoid making exaggerated claims
✅ Remind people that healing comes from Allah alone
You should exercise caution if a practitioner:
❌ Asks for your mother's name
❌ Requests hair, clothing, photographs or personal belongings
❌ Provides talismans, amulets or charms
❌ Uses unknown symbols, numbers or writings
❌ Claims they can guarantee healing
❌ Tells you that every problem is caused by sihr or jinn
❌ Discourages medical or psychological treatment
❌ Demands excessive fees
❌ Uses fear to keep you dependent upon them
❌ Claims to control or communicate with jinn
Before booking a consultation, consider asking:
What methodology do you follow?
Is your Ruqya based upon the Qur'an and Sunnah?
Do you recognise medical and psychological causes?
Do you use any objects, talismans or charms?
What should I expect during a consultation?
A genuine practitioner should be happy to answer these questions openly.
At Ruqya London, we believe in a balanced approach that considers spiritual, psychological, emotional and medical factors.
We do not use:
Talismans or amulets
Numerology
Fortune telling
Unknown incantations
Claims of unseen knowledge
Instead, our focus remains on authentic Quran and Sunnah-based Ruqya, education, self-Ruqya and strengthening one's relationship with Allah.
No Raqi possesses the power to heal.
A Raqi is merely a means, and healing comes from Allah alone.
"And when I am ill, it is He who cures me." (Qur'an 26:80)
